Oppose HB2284/HB2808 - No School Takeovers!

#PublicSchoolProud

HB2284/HB2808 is a punitive school takeover bill that would harm students by targeting schools in low-income communities. Rather than address the glaring funding inequities at these schools, this bill threatens school takeovers by in-state and out-of-state charter companies, with no accountability for the hundreds of millions of dollars it would give those private operators.

The bottom line: Instead of identifying resources to support students at D- and F-rated schools, this bill threatens to tear communities apart by taking over or shutting down schools that don’t perform well on standardized tests. Students in struggling communities need so much more: high-quality teachers and principals, and the resources to ensure all students thrive. Take action today to ask your lawmakers to oppose HB2284/HB2808 and all school takeover models that punish low-income communities.
