SOSAZ Congratulates the
2020 Public School Proud
School Board Candidates

At Save Our Schools Arizona, we know that strong public schools build a strong state.

School boards play a vitally important role in their districts and communities. A well-run school board sets a vision for quality education, then plays a leadership role in the community to transform that vision into reality. On November 3, we are asking our fellow Arizona voters to elect school board candidates who prioritize public education in a real way.

SOSAZ #PublicSchoolProud school board candidates have pledged to:

Image
  • publicly acknowledge their role as an advocate for public education beyond school board meetings to parents, community leaders and state policymakers
  • publicly advocate for a permanent, dedicated funding stream for public education made up of new dollars from the General Fund
  • publicly resolve or affirm any public resolution, if it becomes available to school boards, opposing any expansion of ESA private school vouchers
  • publicly oppose the diversion of any portion of their district's funding to privatization schemes, including (but not limited to) charter co-location or microschool vouchers
  • support the reopening of schools (save for a highly selective group of students with verified special needs) only when Arizona meets specific scientific benchmarks for COVID-19, such as those published by the World Health Organization

At Save Our Schools Arizona, we know that strong public schools build a strong state.

After decades of funding cuts and privatization schemes passed by our State Legislature, bold action will be required to save our schools. On November 3, we are asking our fellow Arizona voters to elect a Legislature that prioritizes public education in a real way.

SOSAZ #PublicSchoolProud state legislative candidates have pledged to:

  • Support raising per-pupil funding for Arizona public schools through new dollars from the General Fund
  • Vote against any and all expansions of the ESA voucher program and other voucher-like programs by any name
  • Introduce or vote for legislation that increases accountability, transparency and oversight of the ESA voucher program and holds voucher schools to the same financial accountability and standards as public schools
  • Introduce or vote for legislation capping the growth and/or size of the existing ESA voucher program, returning it to an entitlement used only by a small proportion of qualified Arizona students

If you're a school board candidate who would like to receive our PSP seal, please email us and we'll be in touch!that could potentially include multiple paragraphs.
