The #AZLeg Must Stop $1.4 Billion in School Cuts by March 1st
#PublicSchoolProud
- Arizona public schools are facing $1.4 billion in cuts this school year unless the Legislature acts before March 1, 2023, to waive the school spending cap (Aggregate Expenditure Limit)
- This funding has already been collected and allocated to teacher and staff pay for April & May 2023
- This will mean teacher layoffs, program cuts, and potentially even school closures.
- The AZ Legislature must approve a one-time exemption to the spending limit. This requires a 2/3 supermajority vote by March 1st.
