SOSAZ Congratulates the 2022 Public School Proud School Board Candidates

Image

At Save Our Schools Arizona, we know that strong public schools build a strong state.

School boards play a vitally important role in their districts and communities. A well-run school board sets a vision for quality education, then plays a leadership role in the community to transform that vision into reality. This November 8, Arizona voters must elect school board candidates who fully prioritize public education.

Each SOSAZ #PublicSchoolProud school board candidate has pledged to:

  • Acknowledge their role as an advocate for public education beyond school board meetings to parents, educators, community members and state policymakers

  • Advocate for the Arizona Legislature to increase permanent, dedicated funds for K-12 schools

  • Oppose the diversion of any portion of their district's funding to for-profit models, including (but not limited to) charter co-location, private transportation grants, microschools, and private school vouchers

  • Affirm any public resolution, if it becomes available to school boards, opposing the expansion of ESA private school vouchers

  • Advocate for diversity and inclusivity in district policies voted upon by the school board, including but not limited to employee training and student interest groups

  • Vote to follow public health guidance, such as from the CDC and AZDHS, regarding evidence-based mitigation measures such as mask requirements, to protect students from COVID-19 transmission and keep them learning in person
